Q: What size board should I be riding?
A: Let's start with Length. Stand the board on its tail and it should come within an inch of your navel. If you do not have a board handy, try a tape measure. This rule is great for a guideline. You may wish to consider your weight as a factor in going up or down in size. Where you ride also plays a part in your decision. If you generally ride smaller waves you can choose a longer board. For those of you who are lucky enough to have consistently larger sets, you can ride a smaller board.
Q: How wide a board should I be riding?
A: The Width of a board should fit comfortably under your arm. If you are stretching to reach across the board it is probably too wide for you. Wide boards have better floatation in smaller waves. Narrow boards conversely go faster on bigger waves. For an accurate appraisal, contact us here at the shop with your size, weight and riding habits.
